Liquid Blue, a world pop/political rock band from San Diego, has released a brand new CD, Supernova. With influences from artists as diverse as Yes, David Bowie, The Ramones and Madonna, the music of Liquid Blue is an exotic blend of western pop melodies with ancient and modern eastern sounds. Lyrically, the band challenges the listener with thought provoking commentary on many crucial issues confronting the nation and the world.
Liquid Blue was founded by vocalist and songwriter Scott Stephens, who envisioned the band as a vehicle to express his passion for music, politics, human rights, environmental protection and other issues. “It is my belief that much of today’s music promotes the same trivial, mind numbing messages again and again,” Scott says. “I feel there is a need and a legitimate market for pop music with a deeper message.”
Liquid Blue is performing concerts at clubs, theaters, arenas and even stadiums worldwide. The band has performed at stadiums in Asia with up to 65,000 fans in attendance. One of the concerts was televised in China to an estimated audience of 700 million. To date, Liquid Blue has performed in over 60 countries on all 6 continents.
Liquid Blue’s brand new CD, Supernova, contains 14 tracks of multi-cultural, multi-ethnic and multi-faceted pop. It has been coined “world pop” which is a brand new genre classification. Both lyrically and musically, Liquid Blue has set a course for a new sound and a new attitude. “Liquid Blue is an element and a color,” Scott Stephens says. “In the 60’s it meant expanding the mind; experimentation and reaching another dimension. In musical terms the premise of this philosophy is that every song, every album, every concert can make a difference.”
