The first single from Supernova, REAL, has won it’s 26th award, being named Track of the Week at Garageband for the third time. The song is has been in the Garageband Top-10 for over a year in both the Pop and World categories. Real will be featured as Track of the Week from April 10th thru April 17th.
Liquid Blue hits the road once again on April 8th for the bands biggest ever tour, visiting 26 countries, mostly in Europe. Included are the UK, Belgium, Netherlands, Greece, Italy, Spain, France, Portugal and many others. The band will visit 11 of these countries for the first time as well as 25 new cities.
Making Up finished 2nd among almost 500 entries in the first ever Peacedriven songwriting contest. From the Peacedriven website: “Other leading finalists included the Grammy-nominated Nadirah Shakoor, former lead singer of the hip-hop group Arrested Development. Her song “Break Away” encourages an end to child abuse. Award-winning California pop group Liquid Blue was also a standout with its song “Making Up” urging an end to global conflicts like Israel and Palestine.”
Wisdom Chain, the ‘hidden track’ from Supernova, has been selected as Track of the Week from May 8th to the 15th. This is the 15th song from Supernova to win an award (out of 15). Wisdom Chain was a featured track on the PCT Music release of Supernova but tucked away as a hidden track on the original release.
The Unisong International Songwriting Contest has announced the winners for 2005 and “If You Gotta Ask” made Top 20 finalist list in the Social/Political category.
“Rescue” has received honorable mention in the “We Are Listening” 2006 Singer/Songwriter Awards. The song has won several other awards and been featured on three compilations.
The 13th Billboard World Song Contest has selected four songs from Liquid Blue’s Supernova LP for honorable mention. The songs chosen are “If You Gotta Ask”, “So Close To Heaven”, “Real” and “Rhythm of Love”. A Billboards spokesman stated it is extremely rare for a band to have four songs amongst the finalists.
Liquid Blue now operates and broadcasts a Live365 Radio Station called Liquid Blue Radio. The station officially went on the air at 8:30 pm on August 30th. Internet radio is the fastest growing segment of the broadcasting industry. Click the Live365 image and tune in now!
Liquid Blue performs on the main state at 4:00 on Sunday, Sept 10th at the Fiesta Del Barrio in Carlsbad CA. Other acts include The Last Revival and Los Pistoleros.
The BlueGirls (Nikki, Layla & Kristen) sang the National Anthem for the San Diego Chargers sold-out home opener at Qualcomm Stadium. Liquid Blue (shown with KUSI’s Kimberly Hunt) rocked the Atlas Ballroom at the Town & Country Hotel in a star-stutted fundraiser event sponsored by “The Nice Guys”. BlueGirls Alex, Kristen and Layla led the band as Nikki Green was representing Liquid Blue at the Pasadena Civic Theater.
Nikki Green will perform a 30 minute set at the Moon Festival held at the famous Pasadena Civic Auditorium on Sept 30th. Nikki will represent Liquid Blue who have a prior engagement the same night in San Diego. Several acclaimed Chinese performers are on the bill including “Musicat”, nine Chinese girls who play Chinese pipa, bamboo flute, guzheng together with violin and cello on a selection of modern, mostly pop, tunes. Winners of Chinese Idol will also perform. Tickets are now on sale at Ticketmaster and range from $26 to $126
Liquid Blue headlined “Rally Monday” at Petco Park on Monday, October 2nd. An estimated 5500 Fans celebrated the Padres success and playoff berth in the 2006 season. The event was a Major League Baseball kick-off for the playoffs and San Diego had the largest Rally Monday crowd in the country. The event featured current and past Padre players and was carried on live TV by Channel 4.
FM 94.9 DJ Midori recorded station ID spots for Liquid Blue Radio on Live365 this week. Midori hosts “Big Sonic Chill” on San Diego’s popular alternative rock station, FM 94.9. Liquid Blue Radio plays intelligent, socially conscious music and is owned and operated by Liquid Blue, Inc. and broadcast on Live365 via the internet.
A painting that features Liquid Blue on the marquee of the La Paloma Theater in Encinitas, CA was recently sold at an auction for $350. The artist is Neil Glasgow from San Dieguito Academy. Liquid Blue was holding a 10th Anniversary/1000 shows celebration at the La Paloma on the day Neil painted the scene.
Liquid Blue and country star Billy Dean performed to a capacity crowd (1600) at 4th & B on Saturday night. Billy joined the band on stage for two song and performed an acoustic set in-between Liquid Blue’s two sets. Billy Dean won a Grammy Award in 1996 and has had several Top-10 country hits including “Billy the Kid” and “Somewhere in My Broken Heart”.
Liquid Blue will perform a private show at Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino on Oct 25th and Nov 8th. The band has performed in Vegas at least once every year since 2000 including 7 Vegas casinos.
The song “Let The Music Move You” will be featured in the upcoming independent film, Supermodels, which is should premiere in January. The song was on a EP and released exclusively in China back in 2001. More information on screenings to be posted soon.

Hornblower Yachts have launched a brand new ship, “The Inspiration” and Liquid Blue will be aboard for it’s very first event, the 232nd Marine Corp Birthday Ball. The band will feature all SIX BlueGirls; performing with a total of 10 members. The Inspiration holds 1200 passengers and is the largest ship in the Hornblower Fleet.
