If You Gotta Ask has been selected as a finailst in the WRA (William Robert Abate) song competition for 2006. The WRA Song Competition selects songs that promote peace, love, community, and/or speak out against violence, war or hate. Founded in 1993, in conjunction with the Oberlin Conservatory of Music, the original William Robert Abate Competition awards gifted artist for their achievements.
LiquidBlue.net was visited by 20,000 different people in January, 2006. The Liquid Blue site is one of the most popular indie web sites. Contributing to the large numbers is the band’s busy touring schedule.
Liquid Blue’s appearance on the popular TV news show Inside Southern California, hosted by Lynn Harper will air on Feb 6th at 7:30 pm, Feb 7th at 5:00 pm, Feb 27th at 7:30 and Feb 28th at 5:00. The band was interviewed with Grammy Award winner Wayne Johnson from the Manhattan Transfer. The show has been nominated for two LCA Cable Awards!
Renowned ocean environmental artist Wyland has released a new DVD chronicling his quest of creating 100 whaling walls around the world to bring attention to the fragile ocean environment. The DVD features some great music including Liquid Blue’s song Rescue from the Supernova album.
Liquid Blue has completed a new promotional video, the first one since 2001. The video includes footage from several concerts including spectacular sell-out shows in China.

Making Up finished 2nd among almost 500 entries in the first ever Peacedriven songwriting contest. From the Peacedriven website: “Other leading finalists included the Grammy-nominated Nadirah Shakoor, former lead singer of the hip-hop group Arrested Development. Her song “Break Away” encourages an end to child abuse. Award-winning California pop group Liquid Blue was also a standout with its song “Making Up” urging an end to global conflicts like Israel and Palestine.”
The Unisong International Songwriting Contest has announced the winners for 2005 and “If You Gotta Ask” made Top 20 finalist list in the Social/Political category.
“Rescue” has received honorable mention in the “We Are Listening” 2006 Singer/Songwriter Awards. The song has won several other awards and been featured on three compilations.
The 13th Billboard World Song Contest has selected four songs from Liquid Blue’s Supernova LP for honorable mention. The songs chosen are “If You Gotta Ask”, “So Close To Heaven”, “Real” and “Rhythm of Love”. A Billboards spokesman stated it is extremely rare for a band to have four songs amongst the finalists.
FM 94.9 DJ Midori recorded station ID spots for Liquid Blue Radio on Live365 this week. Midori hosts “Big Sonic Chill” on San Diego’s popular alternative rock station, FM 94.9. Liquid Blue Radio plays intelligent, socially conscious music and is owned and operated by Liquid Blue, Inc. and broadcast on Live365 via the internet.
A painting that features Liquid Blue on the marquee of the La Paloma Theater in Encinitas, CA was recently sold at an auction for $350. The artist is Neil Glasgow from San Dieguito Academy. Liquid Blue was holding a 10th Anniversary/1000 shows celebration at the La Paloma on the day Neil painted the scene.
Liquid Blue and country star Billy Dean performed to a capacity crowd (1600) at 4th & B on Saturday night. Billy joined the band on stage for two song and performed an acoustic set in-between Liquid Blue’s two sets. Billy Dean won a Grammy Award in 1996 and has had several Top-10 country hits including “Billy the Kid” and “Somewhere in My Broken Heart”.
The song “Let The Music Move You” will be featured in the upcoming independent film, Supermodels, which is should premiere in January. The song was on a EP and released exclusively in China back in 2001. More information on screenings to be posted soon.

Liquid Blue will head back to Europe in November for an all acoustic tour featuring Michael Vangerov and Scott Stephens (Liquid 2). The band will tour eight (8) countries including Switzerland, Austria, Czech Republic, Poland, Hungary, Slovakia, Liechtenstein and Luxembourg. In the past few years Liquid Blue has toured 36 European countries, spending almost as much time in Europe as in the USA. This time it’s completely unplugged.

Liquid Blue has been awarded “runner-up” in the Best Band category of the International Music Awards sponsored by The Music Aid Organization, in association with the United Nations UNV program. Winners were selected from thousands of artists in over 20 countries.

Britney Spears, Anthony Kedis (Chili Peppers), Andy Garcia, John McEnroe, Jack Nickolson and others were on hand at Staples Center as the BlueGirls sang the Star Spangled Banner for the Los Angeles Lakers, Washington Wizards game on Sunday, Dec 17th. The trio featured Nikki Green, Kristen Kelly and Silvia Duga. The game was won by the Wizards in overtime and featured a franchise record 60 points by Wizard star Gilbert Arenas.
