“Real”, the first hit single from Supernova, has been chosen as one of the best songs from 2005 by Next Big Hit.
The BlueGirls will perform the national anthem for the San Diego Chargers final home game this season at Qualcomm Stadium this Saturday, Dec 31st. The game is a sell-out and will be nationally televised.
For the first time in more than five years, the band will be performing locally for New Year’s Eve at the Pechanga Gala NYE Event. Tickets are $150 per person which includes steak and lobster dinner, 2 drinks and party favors. There is also a room package at $639 for two people. The past few new years the band has performed in Las Vegas.
Liquid Blue has been selected as a Spotlight Artist on the home page of Sonicbids.com, one of the leading internet sites for independent artists. The band will be featured from Dec 19th thru the 25th. Lou Paniccia, Member Relations Representative from Sonicbids, simply stated: “We dig your music”.
The BlueGirls will appear at Staples Center three times in December, including appearances NBA’s Los Angeles Lakers, Clippers and NHL’s Los Angeles Kings. They also perform at Arrowhead Pond for the Anaheim Mighty Ducks of the NHL. In January the girls will sing for the New York Knicks at Madison Square Garden as well as the Boston Celtics at their new arena in Boston. Check the schedule for dates. New Music Weekly has selected nominees for The New Music Weekly Awards, which will be announced Nov 19th at the Key Club in Hollywood. Liquid Blue was chosen as Best New (Hot AC) Group of the Year.
Liquid Blue made history by being the first group to perform in the newly built Minhang Arena in Shanghai, China. The band sold out two consequtive shows with no opening act. The band performed a 90 minute set that included most of the songs from Supernova, including unplugged acoustic versions of “Real” and “If You Gotta Ask”. Nikki Green did a stunning cover of John Lennon’s “Imagine” and the band also performed four Chinese songs, to the delight of the crowd. Hollywood mayor Johnny Grant accompanied the band at the start of the tour.
Liquid Blue was back in China in November, with sold out shows at the new Minghan Arena in Shanghai. The band did three shows in Shanghai, selling out the 5000 seat arena twice (no other acts on the billing) and packing Century Plaza for one outdoor show. The 1st show was filmed for Chinese television. Fans lined up for autographs afterwards with newly purchased copies of Supernova in hand.
“Anything Else But (War)” is the first music video from the Supernova album. Ironically, the song is not featured on recent versions of Supernova. performers had very little input on direction of the video and are disappointed in the outcome. Liquid Blue will be in Asia starting Sept 24th through the end of November. The band will visit Russia, Japan, China, Hong Kong, Singapore, Taiwan, Korea and more. The final leg of the tour (November) will be in China where the band will perform in large theaters and arenas in many Chinese cities. The highlight of the tour is the Nov 10th and 11th performances at the Minhang Arena for the Shanghai International Arts Festival. This will be the last Hot News update until the band returns in December.

Band Radio has chosen Liquid Blue for Band of the Week, Sept 18-24. The company will soon be releasing Liquid Blue ringtones for sale.
Members of Liquid Blue were invited to walk the red carpet at the Hollywood China Film Festival at the Writers Guild Theatre in Beverly Hills on Friday, Sept 16th. Guests included Jackie Chan, Oliver Stone, Kevin Spacey, Pierce Brosnan, Fred Dryer and many others. Nikki Green and Scott Stephens did a short performance at the gala event.
Supernova was nominated for Best Pop Album by the San Diego Music Awards academy members. This is the 5th year in a row that the band has been nominated for an award at SDMA. The awards show will be held at Humphrey’s By The Bay on Monday, Sept 12th. Tickets available at www.Ticketmaster.com
Liquid Blue will be featured 3 times on Adelphia Headline News on Wednesday, Sept 7th at either 6:54, 7:54, 8:54, 9:54, 10:54 or 11:54. The interview was conducted by popular on-air personality Lynn Harper, one of the most prominent names in the San Diego radio and TV world.
The band did several shows in Kansas City this week. Thursday night (Sept 1st) the BlueGirls performed the National Anthem at a Kansas City Royals MLB game. Actor Peter Falk threw out the first pitch and met with Nikki Green prior to the game. Friday was a party night with performers Nikki, Rocket and Michael all sitting in with some great local bands.
The title track from Supernova has been selected as a semi-finalist in the 2005 Mars Society Rouget d’Lisle Contest. Maggie Zubrin, Executive Director of the Mars Society stated “These girls could really energize the entire space movement. Sort of like musical rocket fuel”. The winning pieces will be chosen at the 8th International Convention of the Mars Society, to be held in Boulder, CO, August 11-14th, 2005.www.MarsSociety.org
