Over the past few years, Liquid Blue has become one of the busiest bands in the country. This year at the start of 2003 the band had already scheduled over 150 shows. Several of Southern California’s hottest venues currently book the band monthly or bi-monthly. These include: Misty’s in Ontario, Costas in Palm Springs, Viejas Casino in Alpine, Fogerty’s in Escondido and the Boar Cross’n in Carlsbad.
Liquid Blue performed on NBC’s Morning Show on Sunday, January 12th at 7:00 a.m. The band did several original songs and two interviews. The show was aired live.
The BlueGirls made a promotional appearance at the NAMM show (National Association of Music Merchants) in Anaheim, California, January 16-19. Liquid Blue has several sponsors who participated in the show including Sabine.
Liquid Blue will perform at the Sahara Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada from February 3rd thru 9th.
Three members of the Coasters joined Liquid Blue on stage at the Sahara Casino in Las Vegas for a powerful rendition of Mustang Sally. The Coasters were the very first band inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
Liquid Blue performed the finale show which capped a week of first rate entertainment for the lucky folks at Wells Fargo, Inc. Other performers included Kenny Loggins and Cher. Liquid Blue performed using Cher’s production, sound and lights.
A fire ravaged through Fogerty’s Pub the morning of April 4th. Fogerty’s was a regular stop for Liquid Blue when the band was in San Diego. Liquid Blue played the very last weekend at the club less than one week before the unfortunate event and had performed at the club one weekend a month for the past several years.
Liquid Blue performs a show at the Encinitas Street Fair on April 5th from 2:30 to 5:00. Local favorites Ruby and the Red Hots will open the show at 11:00am. Liquid Blue’s champion surfer Layla Laxa competed in two Pro/Am surfing events on April 6th and reached the finals in both! The events were held in Mission Beach. Layla won her first heat in both contests which put her in the finals. She finished 2nd in the first event and 3rd in the next event and collected two more surfing trophies.
Liquid Blue guitarist Michael Vangerov has signed a deal with Neal Moser, to build and produce a custom signature guitar designed by Michael himself. Neal Moser is the designer of the BC Rich “Bich” guitar,
Liquid Blue and acclaimed comedian/actor/producer Paul Rodriguez team up to perform in Fresno on May 9th for a gathering for the honorable Lt. Governor of CA, Cruz Bustamante.
Liquid Blue performed two shows in Papette, the capital city of Tahiti. With several Liquid Blue songs in rotation on Tahitian radio, 3500 fans came out to witness the 2nd performance. The band was even invited to meet the Tahitian president and had been asked to return for more shows in December!
Liquid Blue has been named 2003’s “Hottest Contemporary Act” in the United States. The selection was made by the National Music Awards for their 3rd annual on-line band awards.
Liquid Blue was chosen to perform the National Anthem for the San Diego Padres at their biggest event of the year, KGB’s sky show. There were over 54,000 fans in attendance. 2003 was the third year in a row that
Liquid Blue performed on the boardwalk of the Kennedy Plaza in Atlantic City, New Jersey for the Race Across America Event on June 25th. This race went from San Diego to New Jersey on bicycles. The band performed at the starting line as well as the finish line.
Liquid Blue performed at Oceanfest for the U.S. Surfing Championships in Oceanside, CA on June 27th at 7pm at the Oceanside Pier Amphitheater.
